The Three Shasta’s

Here in Far Nor Cal, nestled in the abundance of complete serenity and some of the most beautiful scenery, we have been very well known to travelers as the place of The Three Shasta’s. Mount Shasta, Shasta Dam, and Shasta Lake. All 3 of these amazing landmarks have brought people from around the world to witness and explore the diversity of each Shasta, and embark on a journey through the history of them all.

Mt. Shasta:
Geologically known for a giant landslide that removed the entire northern side of the volcano. It is known as one of the largest avalanches known to all of earth. Mount Shasta is the second largest volcano of the Cascade Range. Mt Shasta is also known by many as the Mt. Everest of California. It dominates the skyline in the Northern California region, rising 10,000 vertical feet above it’s base to a height of 14,179 feet. It can be seen from over a hundred miles away. It is not connected to any nearby mountain. Mt. Shasta sits alone in her majesty. With due diligence and plenty of research, it is stated that Mt. Shasta has an estimated volume of 350 km3, making it the most voluminous stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. Our beautiful Mt. Shasta has attracted the attention of many authors and poets.

Mt. Shasta is also one of the most desired ski & snowboarding parks for winter athletes around the globe. Hitting the slopes of this giant gives you the thrill of a lifetime and a yearning in your heart to make it an annual trip! Bring your family or friends and get ready to shred some serious powder!

Shasta Dam:
Shasta Dam, went by the name of Kennett Dam before its construction and is a concrete arch-gravity dam across the Sacramento River in the northern part of California, at the north end of the Sacramento Valley. The dam’s job mainly serves long-term water storage and flood control in its reservoir, Shasta Lake, and also generates hydroelectric power. Standing at 602 feet high, it is the ninth-tallest dam in the United States and forms the largest reservoir in California.

Construction on the dam started in 1937 and during its building, the dam provided thousands of much-needed jobs; it was finished twenty-six months ahead of schedule in 1945! When completed, the dam was the second-tallest in the United States after Hoover, and was considered one of the greatest engineering feats of all time. A historical fact about the dam (before its dedication), it served an important role in World War II by providing electricity to California factories, and still plays a vital part in the management of state water resources today.

Tours are given on a daily basis of this magnificent part of the Shasta Cascade and what makes us a huge part of tourist attractions and history.

Shasta Lake:
Known for being the “Houseboat Capital of the World” and popular for the annual Boardstock Fest, lies Shasta Lake. Just north of Redding and visible from I-5, Shasta Lake boasts the largest rental houseboat fleet in the world and more than 360 miles of shoreline when the lake is full. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the thousands of acres of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest that surround it and even get as close as 1,000 feet from the back side of Shasta Dam by boat or any water craft on this gorgeous lake. There are literally hundreds of coves to claim for a morning, afternoon or evening float, and you may find you have a hard time leaving! Shasta Lake is the largest recreational reservoir in California, which leaves no surprise that it offers such an exclusive and mass variety of vacation experiences.

Shasta Lake is proud to invite a variety of water craft & toys from pontoons, luxurious houseboats, patio boats, speed boats, jet ski’s and more. Cigarette boats are even enjoyed on this lake during the summer! Wakeboarding, hydrofoiling, skiing, the jetovator and other play toys are very popular on Shasta Lake, and are available to rent at a variety of marinas around the lake. In addition to boating, we provide the luxurious homes on 140 acres that are completely private with a locked gate and comfort that awaits you after your long days on the lake are over. Come back to enjoy the view of the lake and the surrounding mountainous forest floor, with astounding rock formations that are a sight for sore eyes.
